after seasons of stargazing, we acknowledge the many points of note suspended in the night sky. To properly pay tribute to these. we have decided this grouping should be expanded to include other heavenly bodies. in admiration of the vast & varied soap opera that is greco-roman mythology, our collection of labyrinthine blends inspired by constellations, planets & moons created at the whim of gods, goddesses or the herculean feats of heroes for whom they are named.

sacrificed to a sea monster to placate an insulted poseidon after her mother cassiopeia boasted of her unequaled beauty, andromeda was rescued by perseus whom she later married. upon her death, athena placed the sweet andromeda in the stars near perseus & cassiopeia so that they might continue to revel in her beauty.

vain queen of cepheus & mother to the lovely andromeda, she insulted the 50 nymphic nereids with a braggart's tale of her daughter's beauty. forced to offer her daughter in sacrifice to a sea monster to appease the beleaguered poseidon, daughter andromeda is saved by the gallant perseus; cassiopeia continues to brag from her heavenly throne with the strongest radio signal in the sky after our sun. cassiopeia's boast of unrivaled beauty has been suspended in amber with the lingering bite of cassia & black currant, the tender blooms of heliotrope and pikaki gathered together with the perfect gardenia blossom.

this fatal beauty shed many a salty tear at the loss of his love, the sun god helios' son phatheon. the youthful cygnus searches the river for the body of phatheon who was killed when thrown while driving his fathers chariot of the sun. in pity, zeus changed him into the water bird that has since borne his name, making his search easier but no less painful. a deep breath of fresh sea air with whiffs of musk, narcissus, pikaki, wisteria, lily, gardenia, citrus, tropical fruit & pine.

because ladon, the 100 headed dragon guarding the golden apples, was killed after being struck with herakles' poisoned arrow, hera gave a home to ladon by setting him in the sky as the constellation draco, whose head and tail are positioned at the spots where our solar and the lunar orbit cross. our draco is a guarded blend of a dragon's blood and heroic musk, spilt on a bed of oakmoss, woods and wet greens, sliced like green apples & struck with amber, tonka & coffee

the paragon of masculinity with extraordinary courage, strength, ingenuity & fabled sexual prowess, herakles was unflinching in his love for both the men & women of his time. the fruit of another of zeus' many affairs, herakles - named after stepmother hera in an effort to appease her - spent his life trying to appease and please others. with noted success & acclaim, he is said to have "made the world safe for mankind" in defeating the obstacles presented in the 12 herculean tasks. a gentlemanly blend of ambergris*, black tea, pipe tobacco with hints of fruit & spices, dragons blood resins perfected with 2 kinds of musk.

these five daughters of atlas & sisters to the pleiades were wrought with grief at the loss of their beloved brother hyas, and committed suicide when they learned of his death. in gratitude for nursing his son dionysus, zeus placed the hyades as stars in the sky where their tears still fall in conjunction with the rainy seasons in which they are seen. the individual stars for each sister together mark the face of taurus, the bull; grounds for a base of musk for the heavenly florals: stargazer lily, plumeria, hibiscus, magnolia, and ylang ylang.

the beautiful archetype of the hunter, this master of animals & animal passions suffered unrequited love for the beekeeper of the pleiades, merope. when his life ended tragically - he stepped on a scorpion while hunting - the gods in their infinite compassion placed orion among the stars with his dogs amidst the animals he hunted & near the woman he loved - and a safe distance from scorpius. The many earthly passions of orion have been gathered together in this nearly aphrodisial blend of patchouli, woods, spice & resins - softened to diminish the masculine might with the addition of the gentle herbs, tea & flowering fruits.

a murky green blend for the son of zeus (who had appeared as a shower of gold to mother danae imprisoned by her father, the king of argos). perseus later defeated the sea monster to win the hand of the lovely andromeda and turned his foes to stone with the spoil of a previous battle - medusa's head of snakes.

seven honeyed flowers for the seven virgin sisters who were romantically pursued by orion. rescued by zeus, they were changed into doves so that they might fly to safety before they became the stars of the constellation pleiades, the sight of which signifies that the season of safe sea voyages is here. a lithesome bouquet of seven heavenly florals - freesia, honeysuckle, lily of the valley, magnolia, narcissus, tuberose & gardenia -anchored with the essence of honey for the seven star bound starboard sisters of the pleiades.

called the anchor by the maori and used for navigation by explorers south of the equator, the southern cross, while the smallest of the 88 modern constellations, is one of most distinctive and is found on the flags of australia, new zealand, brazil, papua new guinea & samoa. our first all EO blend of rosewood, lemon myrtle, copaiba balsam, blue cypress, eucalyptus and nutmeg - all derived from plants found south of the equator, in the realm of the southern cross.

attendant to the gods, poor callisto was tricked into sacrificing her chastity to the wily zeus to produce an heir. as punishment, she was transformed into a bear by the slighted & jealous artemis, where she was nearly killed by a hunter, her son arcas. placed safely in the stars by zeus as ursa major, she bears continual watch over her son to this day. grounded notes of sandalwood & earthen patchouli provide the big bear's might; both nurtured and pacified by the redolent sweetness of cardamom, tangerine & chocolate.

in placing son arcas & his mother callisto in the stars, zeus so angered his wife hera that she had the constellations cursed to circle the sky forever, never dropping below the horizon so that "momma's boy" ursa minor is always under the watchful eye of callisto's ursa major. ursa minor's sandalwood, ginger, two playful musks & mandarin wrapped in lettuce compliment the sweeter side of this playful little bear - amber, cassia, caramel, pralines & cocoa - with a dark and unmistakable spice.

as is often the case with teens, phaëthon bragged to his doubting peers that he was the child of sun god helios, and to prove it, borrowed “dad’s” chariot of the sun for an afternoon joyride. losing control, his escapade chilled both of earth’s poles and created the great african deserts before zeus stopped the chariot with a well placed lightening bolt; ending the ride and phaëthon’s short life. The scent that captures the undisciplined energies of youth, this diverse potpourri of heliotrope, herbs, resinous amber, sharp citrus, sensuous woods & tart berries is a vibrant nod to ever changing teenage moods - surprisingly playful, arrestingly candid and intense.
